The Charlotte Fire Department Explorer Post will host its annual open house on Saturday, September 5, 2020; its primary purpose is providing fire service career awareness to young men and women.
Nearly 700 young adults have already enjoyed the memorable experience of learning what it takes to become a firefighter. This hands-on experience is accomplished through a program that utilizes classroom lectures, practical applications, and opportunities to ride along with fire crews. Our program seeks to instill in each Explorer member the importance of obtaining an education, being a responsible citizen, and most of all, striving to be the best that you can be. We will have eight time slots available for registration between 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
This event will be held in the auditorium of the Charlotte Fire Department Training Academy located at 1770 Shopton Road. This is a co-ed program for young men and women ages 14 to 20, and is open to the surrounding Charlotte Metro area. If you are interested in attending, we encourage you to come out and take an up-close and personal look at what our Explorer Post has to offer. All young people in attendance will be given an opportunity to register and become a member of our Post. Parents or legal guardians are welcome to attend; if you are under the age of 18, you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
The online registration deadline is September 3, 2020. The registration fee will be $60.00 for all Posts (this includes liability insurance, which has increased along with overall fee). Students will be able to participate in as many Explorer Posts as they wish.
